Cleveland State Community College’s 6-week End-of-Life Doula Training, taught by Alexis Hughes, is a comprehensive, fully virtual program designed to equip you with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to provide meaningful support during the dying process.

✔ Emotional, physical, and spiritual support techniques
✔ Communication strategies for guiding clients and families
✔ Advance care planning, ethical considerations, and advocacy
✔ Death rituals, funeral options, and body disposition choices
✔ Self-care & sustainability for doulas
📅 Course Format:
✅ Dates: May 20 – June 24, 2025 (Live weekly virtual lectures: Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST)
✅ Delivery: Fully virtual – join from anywhere!
✅ Certification: Cleveland State Certificate + NEDA Proficiency Badge
✅ Cost: $800 (Includes testing fees + a full year NEDA membership!)
✅ Volunteer Internship: 10-hour hands-on experience required [waived if students already work in an EOL setting]

About Your Instructor
Alexis Hughes is a certified end-of-life doula, educator, and industry leader with extensive experience in death work, grief counseling, and holistic end-of-life care. With a background in hospice, elder care, and advocacy, Alexis is passionate about providing compassionate, informed, and ethical support to those navigating death and dying. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the National Home Funeral Alliance and is a Board Member of the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA).
Alexis has spent her career normalizing conversations around death, educating caregivers, and training future death doulas to support individuals and families with dignity, presence, and compassionate advocacy.
